Newark Town win first friendly

 

Newark Town won their opening pre-season match at the Lincolnshire Senior League side Ruston Sports 4-3

They took the opportunity to play five new signings in Craig Lamb (goalkeeper from Grantham Town, Neil Kee (a forward signed from Leicestershire Senior League side Birstall
United), David Issott (local lad David is back from a spell in Australia),Mark Ellison (returning to the club after a spell at Southwell City) and defender Stuart Franks who was part of the Leverton team who beat Farndon in last season's Sunday Intermediate Cup Final.

Town's goalscorers were Simon Ellison (2), Chris Self and Neil Kee

Manager Rupert Thomas declared himself satisfied with the first outing and immediately looked forward to Tuesday nights match at Dunkirk (7.00pm ko) which he thought to be the toughest of all his sides pre season matches.
