Lincolnshire Track & Field League
13th April 2008
Newark AC began their campaign in the Lincolnshire Track & Field League on 13th April with 32 athletes taking part overall.
In the junior girls section u13 Heather Barnes achieved 1st places in the high jump (1.15m) and the shot (6.02m). U17 Sarah Fryer also came 1st in the triple jump (8.81m). Second places were achieved by u11 Olivia Mathias in the 600m (2m11.7) with 3rd in the long jump (2.94m), by u13 Bethany Scotney in the shot (5.31m), by u15 Emma Jessop in the 800m (2m 37.7) who also took 3rd place in the 200m (29.0s), by U15 Kelly Speed in the javelin (14.29m) and also by u17 Rebecca Iveson in the discus (12.48m). Amy Scott came 3rd in the u13 200m (30.6s). Other results u13 age group: Amy Scott 4th 100m(14.8s) and 7th long jump (3.59m) Bethany Scotney 8= 100m (15.1s) and 15th long jump (2.91m); Heather Barnes 5th 70m hurdles (14.5s)
U15 age group: Kelly Speed 4th long jump (3.79m) and 5th 100m (14.6s) U17 age group: Sarah Fryer 5th 100m (14.7s) and 7th 200m (30.8s); Rebecca Iveson 7th 100m (15.5s)
In the junior boys 1st places were obtained by u 11Edward Booth in the 80m (12.9s) and ball throw (31.99m), by u13 Peter Carrington in the 100m (14.0s) and the long jump (4.18m) with 3rd in the javelin (18.63m )by u13 John Jessop in the 800m (2m.42.9) and by u15 Nicky Lynch in the long jump(4.29m) complemented by 2nd in the triple jump (8.93m) and 3rd in the 100m (13.2s). Newcomer u15 Nathan Johnson Bark had 3 good second places in the 100m (13.1s), the 200m (27.6s) and the long jump (4.24m) whilst u11 Joe Shayler finished 2nd in the 80m (13.4s) and the ball throw (27.84m) Other junior boys results: U13 age group- John Jessop 4th javelin (17.54m) and 5th 200m (31.0s); U15 age group – Tom Partridge 8th 1500m (5m.50.0)
U17 age group – Jonathan Greenberry 7th= 100m (12.9s) and 9th = 200m (26.8s); James Barlow 6th javelin (22.96m) 8th 1500m (4m.52.3) and 8th long jump (4.36m)
The junior girls finished 4th on the day and the junior boys were 5th just 4.5 points from 4th place and only 8 points from 3rd.
The senior ladies team comprised only 3 athletes including Ann Kitchen and Trish Hill, who were both nursing injuries. Amy Fendley showed her ability by taking 1st places in the 100m (13.4s) 100m hurdles (15.7s) long jump (5.34m) and triple jump (9.31m). Amy also came 2nd in the shot (8.85m) and the javelin (25.23m). Ann Kitchen filled in, in the javelin (13.92m) and the discus (13.43m) finishing 4th in both events with 5th place in the shot (5.75m). Veteran Trish contested the javelin (14.72m) the Discus (17.41m) and the shot (7.27m) finishing 2nd in all three events.
Despite the shortage of athletes the women still managed to hold on to third place only 6 points behind the second club, Lincoln Wellington, with Grantham winning the match.
In the senior men’s competition 1st places were achieved by U20 Joe Smith in the 200m (25.0s) and the javelin (12.84m), also by senior Michael Beaumont in the 100m (11.2s) and the 200m (23.8s) Tom Beaumont in the high jump (1.70m), the long jump (6.21m) and the triple jump (13.33m). Simon Langley earned 2nd places in the senior triple jump (10.13m) the long jump (5.21m) and the discus (30.33m). Mike Beaumont also gained a 2nd place in the javelin (40.08m) as did Joe Smith in the 1500m (4m28.4) Other results: Tom Beaumont 3rd javelin (39.54) 4th discus (27.66m) and 5th shot (8.82m); Simon Langley 4th shot (8.90m) and Tim Bagguley 4th in the senior 1500m (5m 16.0)
The senior men’s 4 x 100m relay team also took 1st place (47.8s)
In the vets section of the senior competition Paul Smith achieved 1st place in the shot (8.37m) with 2nd in the discus (23.12m) and 4th in the javelin (21.82m), Gary Springett was 2nd in the 100m (12.9s) 3rd in the 200m (27.3s) and 2nd in the shot (7.88m). Peter Beaumont came 2nd in the 200m (27.0s) 2nd in the 400m (60.9s) 3rd in the 100m (13.0s), 3rd in the long jump (4.37m) and 4th in the high jump (1.10m)Richard Peach took 2nd place in the 800m (2m 35.3)and 3rd in the 400m (62.0s), Mick Barnes achieved 3rd in the high jump (1.10m) 3rd in the javelin (26.87m) 4th in the long jump (3.52m) and 4th in the discus (20.70m) completing his afternoon with 6th place in the 1500m (5m.16.4), Grahame Kelley completed the team effort with 5th in the 800m (2m.59.9) 6th in the 3000m (12m 18.4) and 8th in the 1500m (5m 43.7).
The veteran men’s 4 x 100 relay team also won (53.3s)
The senior men’s solid performance rewarded them with victory in their section on the day from Grantham & Lincoln Wellington.
