Bolsover Town v NEWARK TOWN

Newark Town took their unbeaten run to seven as they finished their season with a 2-1 win away from home over promotion aspirants Bolsover Town. Town got off to a flier in the 2nd minute when Daz Baldwin beat two opponents to open the scoring and this was followed in the 30th minute by Chris Self making it 2-0 when he scored from a narrow angle. Bolsover pulled one back in the 42nd minute when a goalmouth scramble resulted in an own goal. After half time with them needing the points Bolsover enjoyed a lot of possession but without really causing Town keeper Mark Everington any problems. In fact with Town always looking dangerous on the break they could have added goals as Craig Roche hit the bar with a 25 yard special and then Cyle Myers forced a good save from the home keeper.

Manager Rupert Thomas said" highly delighted with our end of season performances as that made it 26 points from the last 13 games. We have now built up a tight squad with an excellent team spirit and hopefully next season will be in a position to make a push forward. A special mention to Chris West and Sam Wilford who played in all 38 league games, Ian Wade who missed only one and skipper Gareth Dobb who missed three games but led from the front all season. Every player in the squad has contributed during the season though it was good to finally find a cutting edge up front with the Daz Baldwin/Chris Self combination.

The Newark Town FC Committee are pleased to announce that following the upheaval at the start of this season with the departure of Joint Managers Brett McNamara and Tony Joynes, who had brought about a transformation in
the Club's fortunes, that they have been delighted with the work done by Rupert Thomas when he stepped into the breach at short notice and have had no hesitation in asking him to continue as Manager next season.
