Match Report Newark Town v Harworth CI
(Back to sport) CENTRAL MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUEMANOR PHARMACY PREMIER DIVISION SATURDAY 12th April 2008 NEWARK TOWN v Harworth CI MATCH REPORT Newark Town made it six unbeaten as they beat Harworth CI 1-0 to take their record to 23 points from the last 12 games, a run of form which has delighted Manager Rupert Thomas who said "though we have not played well inall of these games the effort has always been there and better finishing has allowed us to take full points when we would have been settling for a point earlier in the season". Unavailability saw Matt Dobb and Darren Townsley return to the starting line up and Ian Wade returned to centre-back in the reshuffle required. The game started very scrappily with Harworth looking the slightly more dangerous but Town started pressing forward more after 25 minutes and the keeper made a great save from Daz Baldwin and Simon Ellison had a shot cleared off the line. Town started the second half well and Darren Townsley had a header cleared off the line. Harworth then had another good spell before a Gareth Dobb shot saw the Harworth keeper make another good save. The keeper then brought down Daz Baldwin in the 75th minute as he went round him and then, after being lucky to stay on the pitch, made a great save from the free kick. Eight minutes later the referee awarded a penalty for a push on substitute James Morris and Baldwin converted the penalty. Town were then nearly caught out in the last minute as a Harworth attack beat the offside trap but the chance was missed and Town held on to the end. Chris West and Ian Wade were solid in the middle of the defence as Town kept another clean sheet but young Sam Wilford took the Match Sponsor -Surf4Autos- award as Man of the Match, though he is not yet old enough to drink it!
