Newark Town win again

Newark Town recorded their second friendly win as they beat East Midlands Premier League side Dunkirk 3-2 in a competitive work out on Tuesday night.

With new signings being blended into the team Town stuttered a bit at the start and went behind in the fourth minute when Gareth Dobb headed into his own net. Dunkirk then missed an 11th minute penalty before Town equalised in the 15th minute through Chris Self from an Ian Wade cross. Dunkirk continued to have the best of the first half and went ahead again in the 23rd minute from a 30 yard direct free kick but Town kept battling on and were rewardedwith an equaliser close to half time through Mark Ellison after good work by Chris Self and Simon Ellison from a free kick .Town started the second half more composed and took the lead in the 51st minute through a Daz Baldwin penalty after Simon Ellison was brought down after being put clear in the area. Town then started playing with much more fluency and, looking stronger at the back as the game went on, did not look like they would lose their lead.

All in all another good positive step towards the better pre-season build up that Manager Rupert Thomas had demanded from the Squad for 2008-09.
