Howie is a Newark lifer and a Boundary Sound Lifer too, having been involved with the station since the first meeting all those moons ago in 2004. He thought the idea of a radio station coming to town would be amazing, and having wondered how it all works for many years, jumped in with both feet and got involved.
Howie now presents the Afternoon Show on weekdays and is one of the weekend team. He likes to feel he is giving something back to the community that he has grown up in, and loves. He believes radio can give a voice to the unheard community. In print it is very hard to understand the passion or pain that is felt by the people or persons involved, whereas radio can give a voice to everyone.
Howie’s radio hero is Terry Wogan – the king of breakfast radio. Wogan also aspired to be a young star at the same age as Howie, so could our very own Howard Newport be the next Wogan? We think so!

Off-air, Howie also manages the station’s outside broadcasts and is involved with the Newark Carnival. He is a fan of TV crime dramas and long, hot holidays off the beaten track – hence he’s been to New Zealand, Mexico and Moscow (for the Eurovision Song Contest – yes really!!).
