Local charity benefits from Ladies Day

THE BEST LADIES DAY EVER lived up to its name last week, when ladies from across Nottinghamshire and beyond enjoyed a day of relaxation and retail therapy in the delightful setting of Woodborough Hall.

The event, on Thursday 25 June, was organised by June Rowlands, presenter of Boundary Sound’s Girls on Top, to raise funds for Breast Screening Services at Newark Hospital. Hats and handbags, manicures and massage were all on offer during the day, along with fashion shows, talks and demonstrations.

Ticket sales and a raffle supported by various retailers and businesses in and around Newark raised over £1400 for the charity.

The proceeds will be added to other funds raised by local networking group Women in Newark, which is supporting Breast Screening Services as it chosen charity for 2009.
