Power to be cut in Windsor Road area

Residents in the Windsor Road Area of Newark will be without power on Tuesday 19th May from 9am until 4pm.

Central Networks apologies for any inconvenience caused to customers, and have issued the following advice:

  • Electrical powered medical equipment – if you use this, please contact your medical advisor or GP for advice.
  • Fridges and freezers – turn the temperature to the coldest setting 12 hours before the supply is due to go off and keep the door closed – only open if necessary.
  • Appliances – switch off and unplug any sensitive appliances such as computers, satellite receivers, DVD players, TV’s etc.
  • Lights – Leave one light switched on so you are aware when the supply is restored.
  • Burglar Alarms – they usually are equipped with a battery backup, so they should work while the electricity is off.
  • Telephones – cordless (digital) telephone will not work during the power cut, so keep a corded (analogue) telephone or mobile handy.
  • Hot Drinks – prepare hot drinks in a vacuum flask.
  • Added Light – If necessary, use a torch or candles for light, but remember not to leave candles unattended.

Central Networks also have issued advice once the power is restored, and suggest:

  • Wait 5 to 10 minutes before turning your equipment back on.
  • Reset timers on electrical equipment with clocks.
  • The time switch for off peak supplies will not have to be reset.
  • Token or card meters will have the same credit as before the supply was switched off.

If your supply does not come back on, please check your trip switch before contacting Central Networks.

If you live in the area, and would like more information contact, during normal offices hours, Michael Bray on 07837 034692, with reference number INCD-346761-A.
