Get a tan in front of your computer?

A Nottingham company is targeting people in the county who use sun beds with a new website that claims to offer an all year tan just by sitting in front of your computer screen.

The website, Computertan.com has been set up by a Nottinghamshire based skin cancer charity to help raise awareness as to the dangers of sun beds. The site offers users the ability to download software which will enable your computer screen to emit UV rays, however, once users realise it is a spoof site with a good cause they are then given expert advice as to the dangers of UV radiation which causes skin cancer and is becoming increasingly more common in teenagers and young people.

Amazingly the site has attracted over 2 million hits with the hook of a five minute free trial which once loaded delivers a graphic message as the effects of UV radiation.

Experts from the Queens Medical Centre worked with the charity to develop the site which is hoped to educate people, particularly teens and young adults as to the consequences of using UV tanning beds.
