The 4a’s had a canoe and camping weekend at Meadowfield Gardens (just the other side of Rolleston). This was 4 A's first time at the site. The owners Rachel and Tony were brilliant, and allowed our group to stay without charge! That was very much appreciated. 

Our paddle on Saturday started at Farndon, we went down to the PowerStation weir, and over one of the more gentle bits. (Only a couple of people wimped out and portaged, and a couple got stuck on a rock and either capsized or had to bail out) We continued on down to Kelham hall where we got out for lunch, brought to us by our support crew of, my husband Mike, and Sean, one of the kids dads. Then paddled on to Winthorpe, where we got out in a field of very curious cows. They came over and licked our boats! Newark Piscatorial Society were very generous in allowing us to get out at their fishing pegs, and even sent the bailiff along to make sure we were all right. Sounds a cracking weekend, find out more from Julie when she appears on tonight’s All Sports Show.
