Town V Moorlands Railway
Three second half goals gave Newark Town victory in Saturday's friendly with CML newcomers Moorlands Railway. Town threatened from the start, both Callum Fraser and Luke Parsons having headers cleared off the line in the opening stages. Ricky Brewer had a 30 yard shot well held by the keeper, and Craig Roche was close after a run from inside his own half. The visitors' keeper was by far the busier, and it came as a shock when the Blues fell behind in 43 minutes, Moorlands' Kelleher heading home following a corner. Town shuffled the pack after the break, and were rewarded for a lively start when John - Connor McDonald headed the equaliser on 49 minutes. Joe Hurst brought the best out of the visiting keeper and Gary Attwood then produced a good close range save to keep the scores level. The Blues went in front on 75 minutes, Ben Porter curling a shot into the corner of the net after good work from FP McGregor , and three minutes from time porter repeated the feat, this time being set up by Adam Kettleborough. This was another good workout for Town, who continue their preparations with away games at Ruston Sports on Tuesday (8 pm) and a tough looking match with Dunkirk hext Saturday (3 pm).
