Teenage boy injured in air weapon incident
Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information from residents after a 14-year-old boy was shot in the foot.
The victim was playing in fields near Nether Lock close to the River Trent on Wednesday 27th June at around 4.30pm, when he was shot by a suspected air weapon.
The boy was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the pellet from his foot.
Inspector Steve Cartwright said “Incidents like this are very rare in Newark and we believe this is an isolated incident.
“The improper use of air weapons will not be tolerated and action will taken against anyone caught using them inappropriately.”
Offices would like to hear from any resident who was in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously, or who may have witnessed the incident.
Anyone with information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
