District Council ask for train time opinions
Leaflets have been handed out to train passengers by Newark and Sherwood District Council, encouraging them to take part in a consultation on a new timetable which could see morning peak time services reduced.
The council handed out around 1,000 leaflets to regular train users at Newark Northgate Station on Tuesday. The leaflet sets out the issues which could affect Newark as a result of proposed timetable changes to the East Coast Main Line.
The district council is working with Nottinghamshire County Council and Newark Business Club to try and ensure that changes are made to the current proposals so that Newark will not suffer.
Most of the travelling public welcomed the leaflet and some expressed anger at the rail industry’s proposed changes. There were critical comments about the impact on around 150 regular passengers on the 7.29am service to London King’s Cross.
