Under 11's win the NLD plate final

Newark U11'S took 99% OF its squad to Derby for the NLD finals , a first for the class of 2004 and a tough day for all.

Although we had been warned to turn in an hour later than advertized no rugby was played until 11.45 due to frosty conditions.

Newark'A' were first off against Stamford who drew first blood to take the game 10-0 , no argumants here as Stamford played well.

Newark 'B' then played their first fixture against a strong Derby side (guess they had'nt shown us their full hand on their recent visit to Kelham Road) , the Newark boys should be congratulated on giving 110% in a loosing game 20-0, mums and dads give the lads extra rations tonight, they all deserve them!

Newark 'A' then took on Chesterfield , a first for this age group and the right result was achieved with a 30-0 win , the game was not pretty and it was probably best that the lads got it over with quickly and to get the maximum score!

Meanwhile the 'Bs' took on Market Rasen and again gave everything to the cause with nothing left in the tank to loose 10-0.We are all proud of YOU- WELL DONE!

The 'A's then played Spalding in a close draw, our try scored with 30 seconds to go and went into the plate final v West Bridgeford A on previous tries scored.

After a long and cold day, the 'A's finally won 10-5 and went home with the plate.

On behalf of the Coaches I would like to thank firstly the boys for all their hard work on the training fields and secondly to the parents for supporting them and us this season to date.

Onwards and upwards, there is more Rugby to come against Kesteven, Nottingham and the Land Rover and Melton festivals.
