New initiative to tackle burglars
Two men sneaked into a house in Foston on Wednesday and stole jewellery and a purse.
The men, who entered the Back Lane home through an unlocked back door, were disturbed by the elderly woman resident just after 6pm.
Police believe this incident was linked to another when two men claiming to be from the Water Board knocked on the door of an elderly woman's house on High Road, Barrowby, just after 6.30pm.
Inspector Nigel Storey said: "We are urging residents not to let anyone into their homes who hasn't made a prior appointment.
These incidents occurred as Lincolnshire Police today launched their initiative to tackle burglars who trick their way into houses and target the elderly and vulnerable. The campaign is called ‘NOT SURE?…DON’T OPEN THE DOOR!’
