Tae Kwon-Do Club Instructor awarded promotion
Newark Tae Kwon-Do Club Instructor Jill Pearce has been awarded promotion to sixth degree black-belt.
This prestigious award recognises outstanding service to Tae Kwon-Do with a minimum of twenty-five years dedication to the sport. At a special awards ceremony last week end she received her certificate from grand master eighth degree black-belt, David Oliver president of Tae Kwon-Do International who said "Jill deserves this
promotion and her entry into the exclusive club of lady sixth degrees in Great Britain (there are possibly only 2 others in the country) reflects her character and determination over the past twenty-five years."
Jill started training in April 1985 and her early career was dominated with competing. She has won over 70 titles over the years including european and national.
Jill opened the Newark club at Newark High School (then known as Lilley and Stone school) in September 1992 and went on to establish clubs in Retford, Southwell and Bingham.
Her ethos is Tae Kwon-Do should be structured to suit the student not the student to suit the teaching. Tae Kwon-Do in it's early form was designed for the Army to be used for unarmed combat. Since its' introduction to Great
Britain it has evolved to suit people from all walks of life. Children as young as five years join special classes and we also attract men and women of all ages.
One of the pioneers of Tae Kwon-Do Grandmaster C K Choi, is visiting the country from Canada this month and Jill and some of the Newark members will have the opportunity to train with him.
