Five men arrested on Industrial Estate

Nottinghamshire Police has struck a major blow in the bid to reduce the spate of thefts from lorries in the county.

Last week five men from the Leeds area were arrested on suspicion of the theft of goods from a curtain-sided lorry parked at the Brunel Industrial Estate, in Harworth.

Superintendent Mark Holland said: “These arrests bring the total number of people apprehended for committing acts of organised lorry crime in Nottinghamshire to 35 in the last six months. They are almost exclusively from the Leeds and Morley area and we are targeting criminals who are travelling from West Yorkshire to steal from lorries using the A1 through Nottinghamshire.

Last November police dog Myno sniffed out £30,000 worth of electrical goods stolen from a curtain-sided lorry in Newark. One man, also from Leeds, was arrested in connection with the haul.
