Management changes take Boundary Sound forward
Newark’s community radio station, 102.6fm Boundary Sound, has announced changes to its management structure as it moves into its second year of full-time broadcasting.
Andrew Jackson, who set up the station six years ago, is standing down as General Manager to spend more time with his wife Michele, who is suffering terminal cancer. Michele will be giving up her role on the station’s finance committee, while Andrew will maintain his links with Boundary Sound as he continues to present his popular weekday and off peak shows.
The new General Manager for the station is Matt Colbourne, who is relishing the prospect of the opportunity to extend Boundary Sound’s links with the community. His particular focus for the immediate future includes working with local schools to offer media training – a scheme with the Grove School is currently under way. Matt will be supported by Howard Newport, who takes on the role of Off Peak Controller, with responsibility for the diverse specialist shows broadcast during evenings and weekends. Both Matt and Howard will continue as presenters of their own well-established mid-week daytime programmes.
Local businessman John Hope, who joined the station’s board of directors recently, has been appointed as Chairman. Outgoing Chairman Mick Bradley, who retains his position as Director and Head of Sport, said : “Having served as President of the Chamber of Commerce in the Newark area for two years and subsequently on the board of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce for two years, John has a wealth of experience which will be invaluable to Boundary Sound.
“Working alongside other board members on a range of activities, including sales, fund raising, marketing and promotion, his business knowledge and experience will complement the expertise of our trained presenters and producers.
“The board and all of the volunteers involved in Boundary Sound join me in thanking Andy Jackson for his vision and dedication over the last six years and wishing both Andy and Michele well. We look forward to working with the new team, building on our existing reputation as the leading source of great music, up to the minute information and entertainment for the Newark area.”
