Local activities to help tackle drugs
(Back to news) Local activities to help tackle drugs![]() Nottinghamshire County Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) and Nottinghamshire Police, together with other partner agencies, have developed a broad range of diverse community-based activities targeting all seven district/borough areas. Some activities taking place throughout the week include a drugs and alcohol ‘Community’ Information Days, which include complementary therapy such as Indian head massage. Kate Davies, Strategic Director of Nottinghamshire County DAAT said “We are well aware that the subject of ‘drugs’ that can engender fear in to the hearts and minds of many of us.” “Throughout this week, we will set out to increase public confidence in, and awareness of, the work that we undertake locally everyday to tackle drugs issues, including alcohol. This is a great opportunity for us all to learn, and for our services to be ready to meet local need and demand” said Ms Davies. On Thursday, a community consolation event will be held in Newark around ‘needle’ safety will take place at the Bridge Community Centre, Newark. The day will be lead by Anne Trout who is a PSHE Consultant on drugs for the PDL Team at Nottinghamshire County Council.
