Bishop of Southwell to retire

The Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham has announced he will be retiring next year.

The Rt Revd George Cassidy, 65, said it had been a privilege to serve Nottingham and the surrounding county for the past ten years.

He was consecrated as the 10th Bishop of Southwell in 1999 and became the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham when the name of the diocese changed six years later.
