Mr Brooks said "I am very proud to represent Newark and Sherwood District Council as chairman because I believe it is a council that cares about people." “The out-going chairman, Councillor Mrs Sylvia Michael, has done a tremendous job over the past year and I hope to keep up the high standard" Mr Brooks said. Mr Brooks concluded by saying “I firmly believe in the council and what it stands for. It is a wonderful set-up and has great staff, and I hope to take that message out to all corners of the district.”
