(Back to news) River traffic rising in NewarkThe official statistics for boating on the River Trent have been revealed.The figures from British Waterways have seen a 22.4 percentage rise in the number of boats that use the river in comparison to 2002. Statistics show that the busiest lock on the river is Newark Town lock, which saw nearly 4,500 lockings last year. The figures also show that in total 29,702 'lockings' took place on the River Trent in the East Midlands last year, up from 24,257 in 2002.
