Balderton no longer a town council

Councillors in Balderton voted to end its eight months as a town.

Councillors voted 11 to 2 for changing Balderton back to a Parish Council, after a show of hands at Wednesday night’s parish council meeting.

The decision caused outcry by some of the councillors, and was disapproved by some of the local residents who attended the meeting.

Chairman Mr Fred Mortimer had at first tried to make the vote A secret paper vote, after he expressed concerns that the showing of hands could affect the way people voted in the local election on the first of May.
