Education watchdog visits local school

The education watchdog visited Hawtonville Junior last month.

Inspectors said the school was "satisfactory" but added that it had the potential to continue improving, with standards in English & writing being particulary below average.

The Inspectors were pleased to report that standards in maths and science in Year Six were average and this was a vast improvement on 2007.

"The school has developed thorough systems," said Ofsted.
