Nottinghamshire County Council’s Southwell Library Poetry Festival is now in its third year (but a festival has run in the town since 2000). While the festival is hosted by the town’s library, which is set in the heart of the beautiful town of Southwell, events also take place at other venues around the town, including Southwell Minster and the Minster School. This creates a real community feel to the festival and offers people from outside Nottinghamshire more reason to visit this attractive tourist town. Through programmes such as this, the Council’s libraries aim to inspire people with culture, which can have a real impact on their lives, and support the continuation of Nottinghamshire’s proud literary heritage.
